Empathy is an invaluable natural resource for conflict resolution. With empathy, we can build a better society because it enables human beings to appreciate other people’s perspective and respond to other people’s thoughts and feelings with an appropriate emotion. Empathy serves as an inhibitor of aggression and conflict, a catalyst of prosocial behavior, and helps us make better choices that promote a sustainable peace.
The Emile Bruneau Empathy Fund aims to support grassroots empathy building projects around the world. In this inaugural call for applications, we are seeking submission for empathy building projects aimed at children and youth in Palestine.
Dr. Emile Bruneau was a brilliant neuroscientist and a founding member of Empathy for Peace. Sadly, Emile passed away in 2020 from an aggressive form of brain cancer. We have established the Empathy Fund in his honour and memory. Our first round of funding will go to support grassroots projects that aim to build and promote empathy in children and youth in Palestine. Emile dedicated his life to putting neuroscience to work for peace and we know he would be honored by this initiative.
